Betty Lynn Battenfield, a cherished soul whose vibrant spirit illuminated the lives of many, passed away on February 12, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on June 30, 1948, in Houston, Texas, Betty's journey through life was marked by love, creativity, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
For over three decades, she embraced her career as a beautician, flourishing in various salons, with her last beloved establishment being Betty's Beauty Shop. Through her hands, she crafted beauty while her heart nurtured friendships, transforming every appointment into a sanctuary of laughter and connection.
Betty was not just a beautician; she was a devoted wife to Larry Battenfield for an impressive 36 years. Together, they harmonized their lives, crafting a home that resonated with love, warmth, and always the promise of a welcome. She poured her heart into every aspect of their lives, taking pride in being a loving mother and gracious host. The bonds she forged with her sons, Todd Floyd and Steve Battenfield and his wife Katie, transcended the ordinary, creating a tapestry of memories that will forever be woven into the fabric of their lives.
Her creativity blossomed in various forms, as she engaged in crafts, decorated for holidays and events, cooked with joy, and embraced the art of quilting. Each stitch and creation reflected her vibrant personality and her unwavering desire to bring joy to those around her. At church, her enthusiasm for entertaining shone bright; she was a familiar face at countless functions and gatherings, where her laughter echoed and her spirit uplifted all.
Betty's family tree extended outward, vibrant and full of life. She cherished each grandchild—DJ Waters, Tori Seeton and her husband Dustin, Stephanie Battenfield, Justin Battenfield, Seth Floyd, Alexandria Whitestar and her wife Mary, Jacob Battenfield, and Drake Garrison—and her heart swelled with pride for her great-grandchildren: Laiken Seeton, Lynnleigh Seeton, Hayes Seeton, Elizabeth Whitestar, Quiton Whitestar, Anthony Gwyn, Jayden Gwyn, and Brandon Gonzalez. Each moment spent with them was a treasure, a snapshot of joy etched into her soul.
Betty's legacy is enriched by the love she shared with her sister, Susan Little and her husband Jack, who stood beside her through the ebbs and flows of life. This loving family was a support system, reflecting the unwavering bond that emanated from her very essence.
Yet, the path of life also carried sorrow along with its joys. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Hinze; mother, Mary Hinze; sons, Craig Johnson and Stacey Battenfield; and brothers, Bobby Taylor and Donny Taylor. Their absence is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life, but in those moments of remembrance, Betty's spirit lives on, echoing in the hearts of those she loved.
A visitation is scheduled for February 15, 2026, at New Life Church in Batson, Texas, from 5 PM to 8 PM, allowing her family and friends to gather and celebrate the vibrant life she led. The following day, her funeral service will take place at the same location, commencing at 2 PM with Pastor Bill Campbell officiating, followed by her burial at Guedry Cemetery, where she will eternally rest.
Honoring her as pallbearers are DJ Waters, Justin Battenfield, Seth Floyd, Jacob Battenfield, Drake Garrison, and Abel Prichard.
