A Life Remembered
Obituary
Carolyn Sue Hendricks, a beloved resident of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on October 27, 2026. Born in Baytown, Texas, Carolyn was a child of God whose life was rooted in faith and marked by a deep and unwavering devotion to the Lord.
Music was Carolyn’s calling in life and one of her greatest joys. She was blessed with a God-given gift for music and a special talent for playing instruments, especially the piano and accordion. Music was more than a hobby to Carolyn; it was a part of her heart and a beautiful way she shared her gifts with others. Her love for the Lord and her love for music were woven together throughout her life, bringing joy to those who had the privilege of hearing her play and most of all sing.
As a pastor’s wife and the First Lady of her church, Carolyn held a special place in her church family. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and her devotion to the Lord remained a guiding light throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Carolyn also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially visiting Goodwill and exploring thrift stores. She loved the excitement of searching for special finds and discovering treasures along the way such as coffee cups and ballpoint pens. These little joys were part of what made Carolyn so special and added to the memories her family and friends will forever cherish.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Olyn Hendricks; her son, Derrick Eugene Hendricks; and her parents, Sam Saxton and Oma Gwen Fisher Saxton.
Carolyn leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her children, Olyn Hendricks and wife Ginger, Patti Rhoades, and Angela Lacaze and husband Daniel; her brother, Sammy Saxton and wife Connie; her cherished grandchildren, Justin Hendricks and wife Dayna, Bradley Hendricks and wife Nikki, Jordan Hendricks and wife Cory, Keshia Hilton and husband Josh, James Fregia, Brian Burress, Dustin Rhoades, Krista Burress, Zachary Marie, and Chloe Lacaze and numerous great-grandchildren.
Carolyn’s life was a beautiful testament to her faith, her love for the Lord, and the gifts He placed within her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a pastor’s wife, the First Lady of her church, and a gifted musician whose love for music touched many lives. Though her family and friends will deeply miss her presence, her memory will live on through the music she played, the love she shared, the treasures she found in life’s simple moments, and the faith she held so dear. Her earthly song has ended, but the beautiful melody of her life will continue to play in the hearts of all who loved her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.
