Charles Ray Buress

Charles Ray Buress, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and devoted spouse, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Porter, Texas, leaving behind a legacy imbued with love and a spirit that embraced life with fervor. Born on December 22, 1942, in Livingston, Texas, Charles's journey through life was marked by dedication to work, family, and the great outdoors.

Retiring after a remarkable four decades as a millwright with Brown & Root, Charles proudly claimed to be the best millwright in the country. His expertise was matched only by his unwavering commitment to supporting his loved ones, whom he cherished deeply. Charles's personality radiated warmth, particularly in the presence of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. They were the bright stars in his universe, and he took immense joy in sharing moments filled with laughter and love.

An aficionado of the outdoors, Charles found solace and pleasure in fishing, often setting out on his boat equipped with his favorite tackle. Mowing the yard brought him satisfaction, transforming even the simplest tasks into moments of pride. After his retirement, he channeled his creativity into building BBQ pits, a testament to his hands-on spirit and love for family gatherings. He enjoyed cruising on his Harley alongside his children and cherished rides with his New Life Church group, embarking on adventures that would turn into stories shared for generations. At the heart of his home was his beloved dog, LooLoo, who offered companionship and joy during those golden moments spent relaxing outdoors.

He is survived by his devoted spouse of 63 years, Sandra Burress; his children, Jennifer Tidwell (Kenneth), Derrel Burress (Michele), Kevin Burress, and Gabriel Burress; his sister, Betty Brown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, along with his longtime friend and caregiver, Angie Ramirez.

Charles is reunited in spirit with those who predeceased him: his parents, James Howard Burress, and Henrietta Johnson Burress; his son, Timothy Burress; his daughter, Melanie Burress; his brothers, Raymond, and Marvin Burress; and his mother and father-in-law, James and DM Swanner.
