Cynda Sue Willis, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known affectionately as "Grandma Cynda," passed away on March 21, 2026, in Saratoga, Texas. Born on October 19, 1941, Cynda lived a vibrant life marked by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Throughout her life, Cynda embodied the spirit of perseverance and versatility. She wore many hats with pride—whether as a truck driver, refinery plant operator, contributor to the Beaumont Enterprise and Houston Chronicle, or most recently, as a clerk at Walgreens. Truly, she did it all, demonstrating an exceptional work ethic and resilience no matter the role she undertook.
Cynda was a woman of distinctive character—a loving and caring mother and grandmother who carried her responsibilities with heartfelt devotion. Known for her "black and white" personality, she was a woman who always spoke her mind and sought to do the right thing, living her values with honesty and clarity.
Her joys extended beyond her career. Fishing was her favorite pastime, a cherished way she connected with nature and found tranquility. She loved dancing to Cajun music, embracing the rhythms and culture that brought her so much happiness. Deeply spiritual, Cynda attended the First Baptist Church in Kountze for the last three years of her life, where she found solace and kinship with her church family. Her heart also extended to her fur baby, “Little Girl,” who held a special place in her life.
Cynda’s family was at the heart of her world. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 41 years, Henry Willis, who stood by her side as her steadfast partner. She is survived by her children, Delton Tyson Gannon Jr. and his wife, Veronica, Kelly Willis and wife Jennifer, JC Willis and wife Christine, along with a daughter-in-law Kimberly Gannon; her grandchildren, Eric Gannon and wife Alison, Delton Gannon and wife Amanda, Dustin Gannon and wife Nicole, and Kyle Gannon with wife Samantha, Stephanie Vandagriff and husband Jimmy, Matt Bankard and wife Sarah, Shannon Simpson, Olivia Willis, Zachary Willis, Lorelai Willis, Piper Willis, and, Sebastian Willis. She was also a proud great-grandmother to 15 precious great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched profoundly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest Marion Weir, and Eugenia Hood Weir; her son Timothy Eugene Gannon; her brother, James Weir; her sisters, Peggy Williams and Lynda Otwell; along with her granddaughter, Cassie Marie Willis. Their memories are cherished, and their legacies live on through her.
Serving as pallbearers are Eric Gannon, Delton Gannon III, Dustin Gannon, Kyle Gannon, Clayton Gannon, Mason Gannon, Tyson Gannon, and Weston Gannon.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Kountze, Texas,100 W Monroe St. Funeral service will commence at 1:00 pm with Pastor Daniel White. Private Burial to follow at Gannon Family Cemetery, Saratoga, Texas.
Her memory will forever remain a beacon of love, strength, and unwavering integrity. Cynda’s life was a testament to doing one’s best in every moment, speaking with truth, and loving deeply. She leaves behind a legacy that shines brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
