Gladys Ruth Moffitt

Gladys Chamblee Moffitt, 99, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024. She was born on April 13, 1925, in Sour Lake, Texas, to the late Elbert A. Chamblee and Necie Horn Chamblee.
 
Gladys was a graduate of Chenier Business College. She dedicated her career to being an accountant and office manager at various esteemed companies including Cooper Duke, Basil Oilfield Service, and West Hardin Water of Saratoga. Her dedication and hard work were truly commendable. As a member of the Baptist church for 37 years she also taught the nursery class for a number of years at First Baptist Church of Saratoga, Texas.
 
Gladys was not just known for her professional success but also for her unwavering love for her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren unconditionally. One fond memory that remains etched in the hearts of many is her tradition of taking her kids to the Honey Island swimming pool almost every day during the summertime - creating moments that will be cherished forever.
 
Apart from her professional accomplishments and dedication to family, Gladys had a passion for sending birthday and Christmas cards to her loved ones. She also had a talent for cooking delicious chicken and dumplings as well as coconut pies. Until she lost her vision, books were her constant companions. Her wanderlust led her and Woodrow on exciting adventures to the Rocky Mountains while enjoying the tranquility of the deer lease with loved ones around campfires.
 
Puzzles were another favorite pastime of Gladys; she excelled at crossword puzzles which brought both joy and challenge to her life. Her zest for life was truly inspiring. Gladys Ruth Moffitt will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, love, and unwavering spirit.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 54 years, Andrew Woodrow Moffitt; four brother and four sisters. She is survived by her children, James Moffitt and wife Kay, Julia Mueller and husband Vern; grandsons, Jamie Moffitt, Jeramy Moffitt and wife Terrie, Michael Moffitt and wife Tracy, Russell Mueller and wife Sherrie, Douglas Mueller and wife Christina; great grandchildren, Eli, Aiden, Kate and Garrett Moffitt, Tylor, Madison and Grayson Mueller; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Serving the family as pallbearers are Russell Mueller, Doug Mueller, Jamie Moffitt, Jeramy Moffitt, Michael Moffitt, and Tylor Mueller. Honorary pallbearers are Eli Moffitt, Aiden Moffitt, Garrett Moffitt, Kate Moffitt, Madison Mueller, and Grayson Mueller.
 
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at First Baptist Church in Saratoga at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Carl Williamson. Interment will follow to Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.
