A Life Remembered
Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Granville J. Taylor, who passed suddenly on April 29th shortly after arriving at his job site, at the age of 72. Granville lived life to the fullest—on his own terms—with a free spirit and a heart that touched so many.
Granville attended and graduated from Hull-Daisetta, and he made his home in Raywood, Texas, where he built a life surrounded by family and friends.
In his younger years, Granville worked as a welder at Shannon’s Welding in Hull, Texas, where he built not only a career but lifelong friendships. He later went on to own and operate his own business, Taylor Welding Services, taking great pride in his work and the reputation he built. In later years, he continued his hardworking ways with Fregia Construction, where he spent his days mowing and operating equipment. Throughout the years, he held many other jobs, always known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Above all else, Granville was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Sharron, caring for her with a deep and steady love. He was a proud and loving daddy to his daughter, and a dedicated dad to his sons, always offering guidance, strength, and unconditional support. His pride and joy extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom he loved dearly.
Granville had the heart of a cowboy and a love for the simple things in life. He found joy in working on his old cars, taking rides on his motorcycle, and especially spending time with his many friends, who meant the world to him. By his side through it all was his faithful dog, Newt, who never left him and was his constant companion.
Known for being outgoing and outspoken, Granville never met a stranger. Everyone loved to listen to him tell stories of his younger years—stories that brought laughter, wisdom, and a glimpse into the life he lived so fully. He had countless friends who loved him dearly, and he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is preceded by his parents Tom and Shattie Taylor; brother, Alvin Taylor; son, Little Granville Taylor and granddaughter, Kamdyn Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Taylor; son, Derrick Mobley and wife Cathy; daughter, Micki Jo Fregia and husband Johnny Earl; fur baby Newt; grandchildren, Cole Melancon and wife Raelee, Ty Melancon, Cooper Fregia, Landen Taylor and girlfriend Kaylie Jacobs, Evan Taylor, Keaten Taylor, Blakelyn Taylor, Tyler Schnarrs, Zoe Palmer, Jacob Mobley, Tyler Bickett, and Mykayla Darbonne and husband Chad. Numerous great grandchildren extended family and loving friends.
