Gwendolyn Gayle Guin

Gwendolyn Gayle Guin, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on April 18, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas, Gwendolyn touched the lives of many with her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.

Gwendolyn was an avid crafter whose heart was often stitched together with the very fabric she worked with. Her passion for sewing and crafting bloomed beautifully, particularly when she shared these joyous moments with her husband, Terry. Together, they created not just handmade items but cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Her love extended far beyond crafts; she had a deep-rooted affection for show cows and cattle, often combining her two passions in her serene garden where her beloved roses flourished. Gwendolyn found joy in the simple things—spending time in her garden brought her a peace that resonated with all who knew her.

A spirit of adventure defined Gwendolyn, especially evident in her enthusiasm for animals. Horses held a special place in her heart, and she actively participated in drill team horse events, enjoying the thrill of roping and team penning. Her connection to these magnificent creatures illustrated her vibrant spirit and appreciation for life in all its forms.

Gwendolyn had an immense love for her family, often expressing her pride in her children and grandchildren. She was particularly close to her twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, whose lives she followed with unparalleled joy and affection. Her inquiries about the grandchildren were a constant accompaniment to her conversations, reflecting her nurturing nature.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Terry Guin; son, James Deac Hickman and wife Carrie; daughters, Lisa McFarland and husband Kevin, Donna Alpers and husband John, Shannon Storey and husband Jeremiah, Kaitlyn Glawson and husband Trevor; brother, Don Johnson and wife Carolyn; nephew, Darren; as well as her cherished fur babies, Beau and Reba. Gwendolyn leaves behind numerous family and friends, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and camaraderie.

In the embrace of her family, Gwendolyn found her proudest accomplishments, crafting not only beautiful items but also binding moments of love, laughter, and understanding. She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Willis Johnson; her mother, Ila Hyatt; and her daughter, Kimberly Loftin and grandson, Philip Miller.
