Hazel Avis Beasley, 87, born July 2 , 1938. Passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was married to the love of her life, Collis Beasley, for 50 years. Together, they built a family and a legacy.
Avis was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed spending time in the garden, she was an avid hunter, and she could put it all together in the kitchen. She loved to cook, especially when her home was filled with her children and grandchildren. Christmas at Maw Maw’s was more than a holiday — it was a feeling. Her home was where traditions lived, where memories were made, and where everyone belonged. Her house was the place to be every Christmas, and her love will continue to fill those walls.
She spent her early years as a dental assistant, caring for patients with patience and precision. In her later years, she poured that same gentle spirit into her greatest work yet — caring for her grandchildren, becoming their nurse, protector, and safe place.
She took pride in her faith. She would beam at Easter Sunrise Service and Mother’s Day Service at Hardin Methodist Church when her family would fill the pews with her. She always wanted to win the “most kids and grandkids” award.
You could often catch her in her chair cross-stitching a design, or watching family fued. Her home was filled with a remarkable collection of Blue Willow dishes.
She embodied grit and grace in every chapter of her life. She endured, she cared, she gave, and she did it all with a softness that made her strength even more beautiful. She fought hard and she loved harder.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Collis Beasley, her parents Beatrice and Mack Underwood, her daughter, Kathy Beasley, and her grandson, Dusty Beasley.
She leaves behind a legacy. Brother, Benford Underwood, and sister Doris Jean Wright. Sons, Terry Beasley, and wife Sherry, Mike Beasley, and wife Debbie and Glenn Beasley. Grandson, Mark Steven Riojas, and wife Jacquie. Granddaughters, Kerry Overton, and husband Scott, Felicia Worthy, and husband Jim, Deann Rives, and husband Mikey, Buddie Smart, and husband David, Wendy Hargroue, Tamera Kirkland, and husband Drake, and Torrie East. 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 09, 2025 at Faith and Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on December 09, 2025 at Faith and Family Funeral Services with Pastor Gideon Watson officiating. Burial will follow to Moss Hill Cemetery in Moss Hill, Texas.
