Laura LaVern Ewing

Laura LaVern Ewing, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully in her hometown on May 7, 2026. Born on October 28, 1949, LaVern’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and devotion to her family and church community.

For many years, LaVern dedicated her talents and warmth in her career at Hull State Bank, where she built lasting relationships and served with integrity. Beyond her professional achievements, LaVern’s greatest joys were found in her family gatherings, the comforting rituals of cooking for her loved ones, and preserving precious moments through the countless photographs she lovingly took. Those who knew her delighted in her diverse hobbies, crocheting intricate patterns, tending to her garden with tender care, and losing herself in the world of books.

Her vibrant spirit was deeply connected to her faith. LaVern was a beloved member of Hardin Baptist Church and formed many loving friendships at Hardin Methodist. It was her cherished routine to watch both churches’ Sunday morning services online each week—a testament to her unwavering spiritual devotion.

LaVern was a woman who loved wholeheartedly. Her family meant the world to her, and she was treasured by them in return. She is survived and deeply missed by her sons, Richard Ewing and his wife Amy, Aaron Ewing and his wife Jeanne Marie. Her heart continued through her grandchildren: Richard Eric Ewing II, Devin Ewing, Colby Ewing, Dylan Ewing, and Caleb Ewing. She was also survived by her sister-in-law, Bonnie McAnally whom she cherished deeply, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who mourn her loss and celebrate her life.

Preceding her in death were her beloved father, George Ermon Ainsworth; her mother, Gertrude Louise Shauberger; her husband, Richard Eugene Ewing; and her sister, Erma Louise Wilson. Their memory lives on in the stories and traditions LaVern cherished and upheld.

A visitation to honor LaVern will be held on May 11, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Hardin Methodist Church, located at 1005 FM 834, Liberty, Texas 77575. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tony Hines and Pastor Michael Martin officiating, and a private family burial will take place at Hardin Chapel Cemetery. All who knew LaVern are invited to join in remembering her remarkable life and the profound love she shared.

Laura LaVern Ewing leaves behind a legacy of warmth, faith, and devotion. Her presence filled every room with kindness and gentle strength. Though her passing leaves a quiet void in the hearts of many, her spirit will forever bloom in the gardens she tended, the family gatherings she treasured, and the devotion to Christ she so faithfully embraced. She will be profoundly missed but always lovingly remembered.

I remember working with Lavern at Hull State Bank years ago. She was very sweet and helpful to everyone daily, and saw her off and on in years past and still always had her sweet smile on. I know she will be missed!
