Mary Elaine Watkins

Mary Elaine Watkins, born on November 13, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Euless, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that touched the lives of many.

A proud graduate of Nederland High School, class of 1972, Mary dedicated a significant part of her life as a retired clerk from the Post Office, where she exhibited her commitment to helping others. Her career was characterized not only by her professional diligence but also by the warmth she shared with every interaction, reflecting her deep-rooted desire to assist those around her.

Mary was known for her private nature, yet her generous spirit shone through in her many passions. An avid lover of animals, she devoted much of her time to caring for stray cats and dogs, embodying a nurturing personality that extended to all living creatures. Her family cherished her talent for crocheting, as she lovingly crafted blankets for her nieces and nephews, forever keeping them close to her heart. Additionally, she fondly recalled the joyful travels she shared with her husband, Thomas "Tom" Watkins, enriching her life with beautiful memories.

Beyond her hobbies, Mary's love for music was evident during her high school years, where she lent her voice to the choir. This passion for singing reflected her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Mary is survived by her loving sisters: Margaret Sims and her husband Patrick, Beth Esthay, and Doris Keneson and her husband Ronnie. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, who carry forward the lessons of love and care she imparted.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas "Tom" Watkins, her parents, George Eichelberger and Mary Dennie Eichelberger, and her brother, George Eichelberger Jr. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Honoring Mary as pallbearers are Patrick Sims, Jeffrey Tullar, Corey Blackburn, Gerald Esthay Jr., Joshua Barraque, and Garrett Barraque. 

The services to honor Mary Elaine Watkins will commence on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas, beginning with visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Shelby Luke. The interment will take place at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.

Mary's legacy of care for people and animals alike will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, a testament to a life lived fully and generously. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
