Nancy Laverne (Bracewell) Jackson, 83, of Hull, Texas, passed away on April 16, 2026, after a brief illness in Houston, Texas.

Nancy was born on July 24, 1942, in Liberty, Texas, to John and Lois Bracewell. She was a devoted Christian woman whose life reflected strong faith, love, and kindness. She was the matriarch of her family, always putting her loved ones first and guiding them with strength, grace, and unwavering devotion.

Nancy married the love of her life at just 15 years old. They eloped and were married with a forged signature on May 26, 1958. They remained married until his passing in 1994, after which she faithfully remained a widow for the rest of her life.

Nancy was a faithful member of Open House Ministries of Liberty for the last decade. She loved attending church and made it a priority to bring her family with her whenever she could. She could often be found on the front row, hands raised high, joyfully worshiping Jesus, who was the true anchor of her life.

Nancy was a homemaker who lovingly raised her five sons. She found joy in the simple things—cooking, caring for others, and opening her home to anyone in need. She was known for her generous spirit and for always having a place at the table for family, friends, and even strangers who quickly became family. She loved to travel and embraced opportunities to see new places and create memories. She also enjoyed shopping, was always dressed to impress, and was often known for her signature red lipstick. Her favorite color was yellow, she enjoyed raising chickens, and she was known for making delicious homemade fudge candy that her family loved.

Nancy’s humor and playful spirit were just as memorable as her kindness. She loved to laugh and brought joy to those around her, especially her grandchildren. She created unforgettable memories—sneaking outside late to tap on windows for a good scare, making the car “dance” on the way to town, and turning a simple trip to Walmart into a daily adventure. She also loved taking her grandchildren to the pond to swim and could float on her back for hours, a simple joy that became a treasured memory for those who shared it with her.

Nancy loved her home and took special care of every detail, doing so with humble pride and gratitude. One grandson, James, shared that some of his most cherished memories were going to her house in the mornings before school to read Bible verses and enjoy a homemade breakfast. He credits her with helping him learn about Jesus and described her as one of the most influential people in his life. He shared that she lived to witness to her children and grandchildren, and that she held a deeply special place in his heart.

Nancy had a way of making people feel like they belonged from the very first moment. She greeted others with warmth and genuine love, offering a comforting presence that was both strong and gentle. She had a deep sense of intuition, able to recognize truth, love, and emotion even when it went unspoken. She met people where they were, extending grace, understanding, and honesty to everyone she encountered.

Her faith was central to her life. She loved reading and studying her Bible and lived out her beliefs daily through her actions, generosity, and compassion. Holidays were especially meaningful to her and were often centered around family gatherings filled with turkey and dressing. She had a special love for Christmas and Easter, and her Christmas tree was often real and beautifully decorated with tinsel.

Nancy will be remembered as a selfless, virtuous, caring, gracious, resilient, and genuine woman who had a gift for making others feel seen, loved, and cared for—qualities her granddaughters lovingly used to describe her. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love leave a lasting legacy in all who knew her.

She is survived by her children: James Jackson and wife Becky of Moss Hill; Doyle Jackson and wife Amy of Tyler; Oran Jackson and wife Monica of Texas City; Robert Jackson of Hull; and John Jackson of Hull. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

She is also survived by her siblings: Dorothy Presnull; James Bracewell; Oran Bracewell and wife Nancy; Gladys Huff and husband Larry; and Sandra Pearce.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Dean Jackson; her father, John Bracewell; her mother, Lois Bracewell Jannise; her stepfather, Ted Jannise; her brother, Kenneth Bracewell; and her great-grandson, Carter George.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Open House Ministries in Liberty, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Open House Ministries, with Pastor Donald Scott and Pastor Bill Campbell officiating.
