Randy Carl Etheridge, born on March 17, 1955, in Converse, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted family man and a humble soul, Randy’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Randy was a man of few words, yet his actions spoke volumes. Known for his hardworking nature and unwavering dedication, he was a self-employed logger who poured his heart and soul into his work. Randy's love for his family was ever-present. He was a homebody who found joy in simple pleasures and was deeply generous, always willing to help others without expecting anything in return. He didn’t require much for himself, but his giving spirit enriched the lives of those around him.
In his younger years, Randy cherished hunting and fishing outings with his family and children, moments that forged treasured memories. He nurtured a love for gardening, delighting in sharing his crops with family and friends. When he ventured out of the familiar comforts of home, he especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter play softball for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. All of his grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and their happiness always brought him joy.
Randy’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is remembered by his lovely wife of 53 years, Barbara Etheridge; his son, Dustin Etheridge; and his daughters, Kami Smith and her husband Michael, and Katy Roberts. His sisters Florence Schulgen and her husband George, Liz Ramsey, Dorothy King, Mary Sue Eunson and her husband Steele, Joanne McCormick and her husband Charles, as well as his sister-in-laws Margaret Etheridge and Martha Etheridge, also carry his memory in their hearts. The laughter and companionship of his grandchildren—Alex Smith and his wife Reese, Emily Smith, Graysen Leak, Ryleigh Roberts, Lane Roberts, and Laiken Roberts—stood as living testament to the enduring love Randy shared with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vance Etheridge; mother, Victoria Ezernack Etheridge; brothers Tenon, Herman, Clifford, Joseph, Nolan, and Keith Etheridge; and sister Jane Dunham.
Randy’s life will be honored and celebrated with a visitation on June 1, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Honey Island Assembly of God, located at 9097 FM1293 in Kountze, Texas. This will be followed immediately by a funeral service from 2:00 PM at the same location with Pastor Earl Crawford and grandson Alex Smith officiating.
