Joyce Flowers

Joyce Flowers, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Born on July 4, 1935, in Village Mills, Texas, Joyce's life was marked by devotion to her family and community, a beacon of strength and kindness through the years.

Joyce was a strong Christian woman. Her faith wasn’t just something she spoke about—it was something she lived every single day. Through life’s joys and challenges, she trusted the Lord, and that faith guided the way she loved her family, supported her friends, and served those around her. Joyce grew up in Honey Island, Texas, a place that helped shape her values.

She married the love of her life, building a life centered on love, commitment, and devotion. Together, they created a family that became her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. As a mother and Gran Gran, she poured her heart into her family. While we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. Her love, her faith, and her strength will continue to live on in her family and in all of us who were blessed to know her.

Her early days were shaped by the loving guidance of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hobden Sr., whose memory she cherished deeply, alongside the memories of her dear husband, A.L. Flowers. Joyce was also preceded in death by her brother, James Hobden, and sister, Ethel Hobden, whose presence is fondly remembered by those who loved them.

Joyce’s surviving family includes her devoted son, Gary Flowers, and his wife Cindy, who remain a source of pride and comfort. She also leaves behind her brother, Melvin Hobden, Jr., a steadfast companion in life's journey. Her enduring love flourishes through six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each carrying forward her spirit and values.

A visitation to honor Joyce’s memory will be held on May 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at West End Baptist Church, located at 13189 Cotton Road, Saratoga, Texas 77585. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will begin at 12:00 PM in the same place with Pastor Bill Fabriguze officiating, providing friends and family an opportunity to gather and share the profound impact Joyce had on their lives. Burial will follow to Felps cemetery in Thicket, Texas.

Honoring Joyce as pallbearers are Jimmy Flowers, Derek Flowers, Mike Parks, Jared McCauley, Marshall Flowers, Lane Moss and Christian Taylor.

Joyce Flowers’ life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit remains alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Through her family’s embrace and the memories shared, Joyce’s light shall continue to shine, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived and a love everlasting.

What a wonderful lady! From the time I was a little girl on, I have so many great memories of her. She always made me feel heard, and cared for. I know that she loved Jesus, and she lived it daily. As Christians, we know that we will see her again. Until then, Joyce, enjoy Heaven!! We will see you soon!
