A Life Remembered
Obituary
Verna Ann Fregia, 91, a warm and sweet soul, passed away peacefully at Rolling Brook Rehab on October 4, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1934, in Bismark, ND.
Verna dedicated many years of her life to retail, where she was known and loved by both her colleagues and customers at Baskin’s, Wiggins Grocery, and Mini Max. She found great joy in working in her yard and enjoyed tending to it for as long as she was able. Above all, Verna cherished her family and the time she spent with those she loved.
A devout Catholic, Verna’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. In her younger years, she had a passion for sewing, a hobby she would occasionally return to throughout her life. She also loved zydeco music and dancing, finding joy in the simple pleasures that brought happiness to her heart.
Verna is survived by her son, Butch Fregia; daughters, Sandy Hendrix and husband, Tom, and Susie Hutchison; grandchildren, Jenene Almonte, Cory Fontenot, Celia Williams, and Kimberli Butler; and great-grandchildren, Noah Almonte, Kieran Almonte, Samantha Williams, Matthew Williams, Dawson Gary, and Devin Gary. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anna Kupzik Heinle and sister Carol “Dolly” Taraba.
