1942 ∼ 2026

Vorice Bernard Baucum

Vorice Bernard Baucum, a beloved member of the Daisetta community and devoted servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Hull, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 12, 1942, in Liberty, Texas, Vorice lived a full and vibrant life marked by faith, family, and unwavering dedication.

A longtime resident of the area, Vorice retired from the City of Daisetta after years of committed service. He was known not only for his work ethic but also for his deep love for his family and his church community, where he proudly served as a Deacon at Central Baptist Church. His laughter and warmth left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and his joy for life was evident in every aspect of his days.

Vorice found great comfort and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved his coffee—so much so that you could often find him sipping it even during the hottest parts of the day, claiming it cooled him down. His outdoor sanctuary was his therapy; he delighted in tending to his yard, raking leaves, and burning brush with a peaceful spirit. Music moved his soul, and he was known for his love of dancing, especially the jitterbug, sharing his spirited joy with family and friends.

Most cherished of all were the moments spent with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him PawPaw or Honey. To them, he was a source of unconditional love and gentle guidance, a cornerstone of strength and kindness. His devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Wanda Baucum, stood beside him through every chapter of their lives together, a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Vorice’s family extends with pride through his sons, Vorice “Scotty” Baucum and wife Amy, and Clint Baucum and wife Raquel; his daughter, Chantel Moor and husband Charles; and his sisters Violet Lawrence and Sharon Taylor. The legacy of his love continues through his grandchildren Tiffany Slankard and husband Jason, Brittany Goodwin and husband Jay, Kali Baucum, Shelby Baucum-Forister and husband Taylor, Sydnie Hill and husband Kerwin, Seth Dryden and wife Erynne, Leah Baucum, Hana Loden and husband Jason; and his ever-growing circle of great-grandchildren Cadence Slankard, Logan Goodwin, Tyler Harvey, Kinley Goodwin, Railey Adams, Aisley Slankard, Phoebie Harvey, Jase Slankard, Kellah Hill, Ryan Adams, Keaston Hill, Hazel Dryden, Saylor Loden, Layton Loden, Rhett Dryden, Karoline Hill, and a precious new arrival on the way named Honey James Loden. Vorice was also surrounded by numerous nieces, nephews, and a loving extended family who cherished him deeply.

Though Vorice is now reunited with his beloved parents, Clinton Baucum and Viola Walters, and siblings Roy Baucum, Cleburn Baucum, Frank Baucum, Joyce Clark, and Janel McCann, his memory lives vibrantly among those still blessed to carry his love forward.

A visitation will be held on June 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, Texas. This will be followed by a funeral service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the same location with Pastor Leslie Gaines officiating. Burial will take place at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Liberty, Texas, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Honoring Vorice as pallbearers are Seth Dryden, Tyler Harvey, Jase Slankard, Keaston Hill, Charles Moor, Jason Slankard, Kerwin Hill, and Jason Loden. Honorary pallbearers are Logan Goodwin, Ryan Adams, Bubba Taylor, Pat Taylor, Raymond Sanders and James Moor.

Vorice Bernard Baucum’s life was a testament to faith, family, and joy. His legacy of love, laughter, and light will forever be held in the hearts of all who had the blessing to know him. Though he may be gone from this earthly realm, the warmth of his spirit will continue to inspire and comfort those he loved most.
